High school students invited to pitch for prizes at Startup Sprint

High school students from across the state are invited to showcase their entrepreneurial skills for cash prizes and scholarships during a team business pitch competition.

Hosted by ˾ý’s Meinders School of Business, the Startup Sprint & Business Plan Pitch Competition will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 24.

The competition challenges students to develop a business idea and present a compelling 2- to 3-minute pitch to a panel of industry experts. Business Interim Dean Bob Greve will first share details on what goes into developing a product, identifying an audience and creating economic projections. Then, participants will work with ˾ý’s business professors and current students to create a product concept, marketing plan and financial forecast.

“This pitch competition offers a real-world business experience,” said Kyle Golding, director of corporate relations for the Meinders School of Business. “With the support of our faculty and advice from leaders in the Oklahoma business community, this event is an excellent way for students to gain valuable experience and connections.”

There is no fee to participate. The competition offers significant rewards, including scholarships and cash prizes of $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second, $1,000 for third and $500 for fourth.

Teams of five students are encouraged to register, though individuals may also sign up to be placed on a team. Multiple teams from a single school are welcome, and winning teams will earn trophies for their school’s trophy case.

The event is sponsored by Post Oak Toyota.
