Events

Each year, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning hosts a range of events designed to build community, celebrate faculty work, and create space for connection across campus. These include social gatherings, OKC Week at the Museum, and the University Awards.

Through these events, CETL supports a culture of collaboration and recognition, highlighting the meaningful work happening in and beyond the classroom.

Building connections is an important part of a thriving academic community. Throughout the year, CETL hosts social gatherings and celebratory events that bring faculty together outside of the classroom. From Welcome Back events and holiday celebrations to themed gatherings and informal meetups, these opportunities provide a chance to connect with colleagues, strengthen relationships, and enjoy a sense of community across campus.

Each fall, CETL partners with the Oklahoma City Museum of Art to offer the ÀÏ˾»ú´«Ã½ community free admission to the museum during a special week-long event. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to explore the museum’s collections, experience art in a new way, and take advantage of this unique opportunity to engage with one of Oklahoma City’s premier cultural institutions.

As part of the event, facutly and staff are also invited to a special presentation led by a museum curator, who provides insights into the featured exhibition and the stories, themes, and creative processes behind the artwork. Whether you're an art enthusiast or simply curious to learn something new, ÀÏ˾»ú´«Ã½ Week at the Museum offers a chance to connect, reflect, and be inspired beyond the classroom.

Some topics require focused, hands-on learning to help faculty and staff navigate university systems, policies, and teaching tools with confidence. Our targeted training opportunities provide practical guidance on specific areas that support teaching, learning, compliance, and institutional effectiveness.

Whether you are learning a new system, refreshing existing skills, or staying current with institutional requirements, targeted training sessions provide the knowledge, resources, and support needed to succeed. Through demonstrations, hands-on practice, and opportunities for questions and discussion, these events help participants build confidence while strengthening their professional toolkit.

Held each spring, the University Awards celebration brings members of the ÀÏ˾»ú´«Ã½ community together to recognize and celebrate outstanding achievements across campus. This annual event honors faculty, staff, students, and campus leaders whose dedication, innovation, and service have made a meaningful impact on the university community.

The celebration highlights excellence in teaching, scholarship, mentorship, leadership, service, and student success, recognizing the many ways individuals contribute to ÀÏ˾»ú´«Ã½'s mission and enrich the campus experience. By showcasing these accomplishments, the event not only honors award recipients but also celebrates the values of excellence, collaboration, and community that define ÀÏ˾»ú´«Ã½.

The University Awards provide an opportunity for the campus community to come together, reflect on the achievements of the past year, and recognize the individuals whose work inspires others and strengthens ÀÏ˾»ú´«Ã½. It is a time to celebrate the collective accomplishments of our community and the people who help make the university a vibrant place to learn, teach, and grow.
